Air Cargo Examination Officer

An Air Cargo Examination Officer is responsible for screening freight and goods before they are loaded onto aircraft. This role is critical in preventing prohibited items, explosives and dangerous goods from entering the aviation supply chain.

As part of this role, you may be required to:

  • Examine cargo using X-ray and detection equipment
  • Inspect freight documentation and packaging
  • Identify security risks within cargo consignments
  • Apply strict handling and reporting procedures
  • Work within secure cargo terminals and logistics facilities

Employment opportunities exist with airlines, freight forwarders, cargo terminals and aviation security providers.

Maritime Screening Officer

A Maritime Screening Officer works within ports, docks and marine transport facilities to protect vessels, passengers, crew and cargo. This role supports the safety of Australia’s maritime operations and international trade.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Screening passengers, workers and visitors entering maritime secure zones
  • Inspecting cargo, vehicles and personal belongings
  • Monitoring access points within port facilities
  • Enforcing maritime security requirements
  • Responding to security incidents and unauthorised access attempts

Graduates may find employment in commercial ports, cruise terminals, shipping facilities and maritime security operations.
